PROTECTING ECOSYSTEMS : OUR VITAL CONNECTION TO NATURE

Protecting ecosystems : a vital connection to nature

Protecting ecosystems : Ecosystems are the intricate networks of life that sustain our planet, providing essential services such as clean air, fresh water, food, and climate regulation. They support biodiversity, from the tiniest microorganisms to the largest mammals, and are the foundation of human well-being and prosperity. However, ecosystems around the world are under increasing threat from human activities such as deforestation, pollution, and climate change. By protecting these ecosystems, we not only preserve the diverse array of species that call them home but also safeguard our own future. It’s crucial that we take action now to conserve and restore these invaluable natural habitats, ensuring a sustainable and thriving planet for generations to come.

ABOUT EARTH TODAY

EarthToday is a ‘for-purpose company’ that was founded to increase awareness of the state of the planet and accelerate its protection at scale. A tech startup with a purpose portal to facilitate companies, charities, and consumers to campaign for Earth together.

ABOUT UNION OF NATURE FOUNDATION

The Union of Nature Foundation (UON) is a worldwide group of collaborating nature protection organizations that introduces a sustainable business model to collectively protect 50% of the planet.

At the heart of the model is the uon, a unique digital proof of protection of a geocoded unit of nature protected by one of the participating nature protection organizations (NPOs). A unit of nature is either 1 m2 of land or 9 m2 of sea.

Each NPO has a proven track record in protecting large areas of nature, and the resources and capabilities to do this successfully in their local context. They use various methods, including conservation, rewilding, restoration, and sustainable development. They protect wildlife, reintroduce keystone species, steward, acquire and manage vast areas of nature, empower local communities, safeguard indigenous cultures, and so much more.
